Man Arrested After Pointing Gun During Dispute At Firing Range: Secaucus PD A 35-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged after he pointed a gun at another man while at a firing range on Saturday, Aug. 17 in Secaucus, authorities said. At 9:14 p.m., police responded to Long Shot Pistol and Rifle at 375 County Ave. on a report of a dispute between a patron and an employee, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Hudson Catholic Basketball Player Chosen As Star Of New Season Of 'The Bachelor' ABC's "The Bachelor" franchise has announced its next star. His name is Grant Ellis, and he's a 30-year-old day trader with New Jersey and New York roots. The Houston, Texas resident initially competed on this season of "The Bachelorette" starring Jenn Tran, who grew up in Bergen County. Ellis was eliminated just before Tran picked her final four. Bill Pascrell, a Democrat who served in Congress for almost 30 years and was a former Mayor of Paterson, died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the age of 87, his family announced. Man Assaulted Four People With Weapon: Newark PD A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged with assaulting four men on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 20, authorities said. At 7:47 a.m., police responded to Central Avenue and South 10th Street on a report of a man, Khalif Judd, assaulting four men using an object held inside a black bag,Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Judd was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose,Fragé said. The incident remain under investigation,Fragé said.

Bus Driver, Passenger Arrested After Physical Fight: Newark PD A bus driver and a passenger were both arrested on Friday, Aug. 16 after they got into a physical altercation in Newark, authorities said. At noon, police responded to a report of a fight aboard a NJ Transit bus at Broad Street and Lafayette Street,Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Special Olympic Athlete Joseph Maccagnano, Hoboken Native, Dies At 58 Joseph Maccagnano, a longtime Hoboken resident and Special Olympian, died on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the age of 58, according to a fundraiser set up for funeral expenses. Maccagnano worked at Hudson Community Enterprises in Jersey City for 27 years and competed at the Special Olympics for 40 years, being named Athlete of the Year in 2019, according to his obituary at the Jorge Rivera Funeral Home. David Wynn, 68, died in the wreck on I-287 South on Thursday, Aug. 15, a state police spokesperson said. Two Pedestrians Fatally Struck By Truck in Elizabeth: Authorities Two pedestrians were struck and killed by a truck in Elizabeth on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 18, authorities said. The two pedestrians were crossing the roadway at Routes 1 and 9 and Maple Avenue, when a tractor trailer that was stopped at the light proceeded forward when the southbound light turned green, a spokeswoman for the city said. Pedestrian Survives Train Strike In Hudson County: NJ Transit A pedestrian was truck by a train in Harrison on the early morning of Sunday, Aug. 18, authorities said. At 12:50 a.m., Morris and Essex train 6907 struck the pedestrian just east of Broad Street Station, NJ Transit said. The train had departed New York Penn Station at 12:34 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 2:13 a.m., NJ Transit said.
